Observatory

An observatory is a perfect addition for any astronomical work. For amateur astronomers, like my self, the observatory allows for more time observing and less time setting up the equipment. It also helps protect the equipment when it is not in use. So a huge thanks goes out to my wife for her support in getting the project started. Now with my Observatory, I literally just roll off the roof and I am ready to go!

I was able to contract out Gehman’s Utility Barns from southern Maryland to construct the Gronseth Observatory (GObs). It is based off a Roll-Off-Roof (ROR) observatory design. The basic design came from plans that I acquired from SkyShed.com but with some changes to incorporate structural designs used by Gehman’s Utility Barns. I also had Gehman’s Utility Barns make several modifications to ensure the observatory matches the house.

If you are in southern Maryland and need a shed, barn, observatory, or any custom structure, then I highly recommend Gehman’s Utility Barns! They are great to work with, they will ensure the structure is well built, and they do a fantastic job!
